Does Nando's Serve Halal Chicken?
All of our Nando’s restaurants in Ontario serve Halal chicken. Our chicken is provided to us by an IFANCC (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada) certified partner, and all of our sauces, marinades and bastings that we prepare our chicken with in the restaurant are certified by the NIHT (National Independent Halaal Trust) in South Africa, as that is where those products are produced and shipped to Canada from.
Who Supplies You With Chicken?
All of our chicken is from Canadian suppliers and is fresh, never frozen. For more information on our suppliers, please email us here.
Do You Use Battery Chicken?
Our chicken is termed as Free Run where they are raised in enclosed barns but allowed to roam freely with continual access to fresh feed and water. All birds are given a period of darkness each day to allow them to rest and develop a healthy immune system.
What Are The Chickens Fed?
Our chickens are fed a balanced ration that meets all their metabolic requirements. A typical ration will contain wheat and/or corn, soyabean meal and/or corn gluten meal and/or canola bean meal and/or canola, limestone and/or dicalcium phosphate and/or salt and/or sodium bicarbonate, vegetable oil, lysine and/or methionine, enzymes to help digestion of wheat or corn, vitamins and minerals including copper and manganese.
Conventional chicken feeds contain very small amounts of medicated ingredients (mg/kg) to prevent enteric disease in the chickens. No detectable residues remain in the bird at processing.
How Is Nando's Chicken Cooked?
Our chickens are marinated for at least 24 hours before being cooked. Every oven in Nando’s kitchens is pre-programmed to ensure chicken is cooked thoroughly and each batch is temperature checked before serving to ensure it has reached at least 75 degrees. Each chicken is then flame-grilled to order.
Where do your sauces come from?
All the sauces in our restaurants, as well as the ones sold in supermarkets come all the way from South Africa for your personal PERi-PERi delight.
Do you have a kids menu?
We do! We have a special menu for Nandino’s (our name for kids). We've designed the meals for kids under 10, with a bunch of different options for our younger fans. Have a look at our Nandinos' Menu here.

Is There Anything On Your Menu Suitable For Vegetarians?
Nando's are not a vegetarian restaurant, but we do offer non-meat products on our menu which can be seen here. We take specific steps to segregate our non-meat from our meat products: We choose a specific part of the grill for cooking only non-meat products. Separate utensils are always used with non-meat products. Separate bottles of the Nando’s bastes are used exclusively for basting the non-meat products. Full ingredient listings are available in all of our restaurants, just ask the duty manager to see the Food and Menu Specification Folder when you visit. We'd recommend telling the restaurant team when you order that you're a vegetarian, just to ensure they're extra careful!
