Nando’s in Canada
Nando’s first opened in South Africa in 1987 and soon became famous for its Portuguese style flame-grilled chicken with a PERi-PERi (African Birds Eye Chilli) kick. Since opening the first Canadian restaurant in Richmond, B.C. in 1994, it didn’t take long for word to spread like wildfire about the legendary PERi-PERi flavour with restaurants opening in the lower mainland of B.C. and Ontario to where it stands today with 29 restaurants spanning 3 provinces.
The Nando’s restaurant experience is a unique combination of warm Portuguese hospitality, hot flame-grilled chicken and, of course, the famous PERi-PERi flavour. Although you will find subtle differences in each of the restaurants, you will always find a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food, not to mention the Afro-Portuguese heritage that is reflected in many unique ways inside the restaurants. And to top things off, every member of the Nando’s family from the Nandocas (restaurant teams) to the Patraos (managers), take pride in helping guests along a journey to discover the magic that is Nando’s. Our managers are called Patrao’s which is Portuguese for “Head of the house”, and our philosophy is that when entering a Nando’s restaurant our customers should be treated in the same way they would if they entered our home; with all the warmth and hospitality that this entails. You will be greeted with a smile and made to feel at home. Our experience is a unique combination of warm Portuguese hospitality, hot flame-grilled chicken and, of course, the famous PERi-PERi flavour. It is believed that Nando’s globally has the world’s largest contemporary South African art collection and Canada is proud to share a part of that, it reminds us of our roots. Nando’s is a fast casual dining experience and is not fast food. Our food is made to order with the freshest of ingredients and you’ll enjoy eating using our hand crafted ceramic plates and cutlery.
